Labour Adjustment Services
Labour Adjustment Services are offered to assist workers and employers through downsizing or company closures.
Coordinator Manual
Drawing on her experience as an Action Centre Co-ordinator, Carrie developed a manual to be used as a resource for other Co-ordinators. The manual provides background information, administrataive forms and step-by-step guidlines for setting up and managing an Action Centre. She also consulted on a manual designed to guide employers through a company closure and a manual to guide displaced workers through the early stages of unemployment.
Action Centre Co-ordination
Wakeford & Associates works in partnership with companies, the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, unions and Adjustment Committees to provide support for affected employees. This includes supporting the Committee in setting up, operating and eventually closing an Action Center. The co-ordination role also includes administration, financial management, facilitation, research and the co-ordination of career management services. Wakeford & Associates also provides links to Service Canada and community organizations and advocates on behalf of displaced employees.
Needs Assessments
Wakeford & Associates provides needs assessment services for Adjustment Committees. Individual needs assessment interviews are completed with employees during company downsizing or closings. During the interview, each employee is assisted in recognizing his / her own strengths and needs. This information is gathered, compiled and analyzed. A report is presented to the Committee summarizing the needs of the group and outlining recommendations for meeting those needs. The Adjustment Committee then uses this information to decide on the individual and group services they will offer through their Action Centre.
